- read a book
- slept in until at least 10 am everyday

i can't complain

The total amount of suffering per year in the natural world is beyond all decent contemplation. During the minute that it takes me to compose this sentence, thousands of animals are being eaten alive, many others are running for their lives, whimpering with fear, others are slowly being devoured from within by rasping parasites, thousands of all kinds are dying of starvation, thirst, and disease. It must be so. If there ever is a time of plenty, this very fact will automatically lead to an increase in the population until the natural state of starvation and misery is restored. In a universe of electrons and selfish genes, blind physical forces and genetic replication, some people are going to get hurt, other people are going to get lucky, and you won't find any rhyme or reason in it, nor any justice. The universe that we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but pitiless indifference.

26 years later ...

somethings never change, like my instinct to devour chocolate cake. Unfortunately many things do change and the images of our former lives only remain in photographs and faint memories.

Things I don't remember, how the hell did we get here.

I made it back to SLO in a single piece. Now the summer can begin. I hope the surf in up tomorrow.

a couple weeks ago I took some pictures of one of my favorite childhood places. I was a bit concerned that the old barn wouldn't be standing anymore but to my pleasant surprise she was still there.

Tomorrow I'll find out when I can head back to CA. Now I just need to figure out what I'm going to do with the next 7 weeks. Is anyone down for a road trip along the Mexican coast?

i have three new metallic additions to my finger.

going under the knife. It turns out my fracture is worse then I first thought so I'm going in need three pins put in my finger to stabilize the joint. I guess being a baker really is out of the question. This summer is going to suck if I can't surf now.

this past weekend i drove to Steamboat Colorado to celebrate Josh's little brother's 21st birthday. I had a blast but ended up with a fractured digit. Needless to say this is going to put a damper on my summer. I wouldn't really make a very good baker now. Back to the drawing board. Any ideas?
